Jackson Pollock exhibit opens at Sioux City Art Center

A very famous, and very large, painting was unveiled to the public at the Sioux City Art Center Saturday morning.

The exhibit for Jackson Pollock's Mural was opened to the public.

Mayor Bob Scott and several other Sioux City leaders attended the opening of the exhibition.

Officials with the Art Center said this painting is the perfect way to celebrate the 100th birthday of the center, because of it's global significance and recognition, but also because it's symbolic of a bright future ahead for the Art Center.

"For the Art Center, it means that it raises our visibility. It provides access to our community to something very special that they wouldn't normally see, unless they were in larger demographic areas," Al Harris-Fernandez, Art Center Director said.

Mural will be on display at the Sioux City Art Center for free for the next nine months, before embarking on a European tour.
