PILGER, NE (KTIV/US92) -

Many heartwarming stories have come out in the weeks following a tornado strike in Pilger, Nebraska, including the tales of businesses who have vowed to rebuild in town.

Officials with Midwest Bank say plans are underway to rebuild their bank branch in Pilger.

The bank building was among the hundreds destroyed when two tornadoes touched down June 16.  Employees of Midwest Bank in Pilger took shelter in the vault, while the bank manager hid in the basement.

Now, bank officials say they are committed to rebuilding a branch in town.

In the meantime, bank officials say they will be remodeling a building in nearby Wisner to serve their clients in the Pilger area. That should be open some time next month.

The employees of the Pilger location have been working out of the Midwest Bank location in Norfolk since the storm.
