Volunteers and participants are needed for the 27th Annual Special Olympics Expo in Sioux City


The Sioux City Parks and Recreation will host the 27th Annual Special Olympics Expo on Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Leif Erikson Park/Pool.

Participants can attend clinics in the area of tennis, softball and volleyball.

There is a free lunch for participants and event volunteers with open swim for all participants.

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m.

Register with the Parks and Rec office by Friday, July 25 for this free event.

Volunteers are still needed for the following areas:

Buddy Volunteer- responsible for helping participants move to and from clinic stations.

Clinician Volunteer-responsible for leading and guiding participants in events including tennis, volleyball, softball, and swimming.

Registration Volunteer-responsible for registering participants and filling out name tags.

Set Up Volunteer-responsible for helping set up at 9:00 a.m. and lunch preparation.

Post Event Clean Up Volunteer-responsible for gathering equipment and cleaning up areas after the event.
