Woodbury Central and MV-AO play at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
MOVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) -
In Class 2A, it's an all Siouxland match-up in the opening round.
No. 3 Woodbury Central is back at state for the first time since 2009, while unranked Maple Valley Anthon-Oto is returning to Fort Dodge for the first time in 14 years.
The Wildcats and Rams met twice during the regular season, with Woodbury Central coming away with 6-4 and 8-4 victories.
To get back to state, Woodbury Central stormed past MMC-RU, Sioux Central and South O'Brien.
On the flip side, MV-AO topped Missouri Valley, Lawton-Bronson and Treynor to earn a spot in Fort Dodge.
The Wildcats know it's tough to beat a team three times in a season, but they're up for the challenge. "I think we can go all the way," Halle Still said. "With our hitting and our defense, there's not really anyone that can stop us this year."
"They have so much potential and talent, they can go play with anyone one in the state," Coach Jade Manker added. "They have great offense, great defense and if they come with both of those things in one night, they're pretty hard to play with."
First pitch between the Wildcats and Rams is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night in Fort Dodge.
