Students work out at the White Tiger Martial Arts Academy on Friday.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The White Tiger Martial Arts program of Sioux City has earned plenty of recognition lately. Members of the 8 to 13-year old team showed off their skills and their medals on Friday.
The program collected 20 Gold National Championship medals during 2014. Six members were involved in the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines last week. The team won 7 gold medals, 9 silver, and 3 bronze this season.
There were 22 members involved in the U.S. Open held in Colorado Springs in June, where the program took home a total of 39 medals.
"I'm always proud of my athletes win or lose," said instructor Mike Donahoo. "One thing I always ask is that they go out and give it 100 percent. And they definitely did that this season. I'm very proud of everyone. they went out, gave it 100 percent, and they did a great job representing White Tiger."
"You can actually come home and say, 'I'm Kaley, and I won all these medals because I did my best,'" said Kaley Herbert.
White Tiger is always looking for new members for their Junior TaeKwonDo program, for kids ages 6 to 13.
