Police: Husband attempts to kidnap wife


A Sioux City man has been arrested after attempting to kidnap his wife.

40-year-old Chance Michaels allegedly strangled his wife and forced her into his vehicle.

Police say the incident occurred in the 2700 block of south cypress street.

Michaels attempted to flee authorities by jumping into the Missouri river, but was arrested shortly after.

He’s been charged with first-degree kidnapping, felony domestic assault and assault while participating in a felony.
