Headid beat Missouri, 5-4, in regional play on Monday.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (KTIV) -
The Headid Little League All-Stars had gone 0-3 at the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis. The Sioux City 11 and 12-year olds were playing their final pool play game on Monday.
Headid won 5-4 against Joplin, Missouri. Because of a tie-breaker system, Headid will likely be one of the four teams to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, even with their 1-3 record.
They need the Minnesota team to win and score three runs against Nebraska. That game was rained out Monday and will be played at 9:00 AM on Tuesday.
Headid wants to keep playing.
"We just focused on, let's take one win home with us and we didn't have high expectations past today's game," said coach Steve Venne. "We're pretty encouraged because I thought the mathematics was not in our favor as much as it is now so it's kind of exciting that we have a chance."
If Headid advances, they will probably play top-seeded Minnesota on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. That game will be on ESPN 2.
