Workers put finishing touches on Hard Rock outdoor concert venue

It's been almost a month since Sioux City's Hard Rock Hotel and Casino opened its doors.

Wednesday workers put the finishing touches on the outdoor concert area just in time for the first show, Thursday night.

Country artist David Nail will perform Thursday night in "The Backyard."

That's what they call the outdoor concert venue.

Then, Saturday night, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Daughtry, take the "Backyard" stage.

Hard Rock G-M Todd Moyer says the final piece of the puzzle is now in place.

This weekend we open the backyard space. We also open Main + Abbey which is the restaurant behind me with great patio views which is a great spot to get a drink and a bite to eat and watch the show," saud Moyer.

Moyer says many of the Hard Rock's guests have never set foot in a casino before.

He says, so far, the Hard Rock has paid out more than one-million dollars in jackpots.

A lot of people are coming out to check out the Hard Rock memorabilia, they come for the brand. They stay for the casino or they stay to have a bite to eat or a drink or see an awesome show. So we really feel the impact of growing the gaming foot print here in Woodburry county. So its been fantastic," said Moyer.

Though the Hard Rock has been open for almost a month, they're still hiring for positions ranging from culinary to management.

The casino plans to hand out its first payment of gaming revenue to its non-profit partner, Missouri River Historical Development, on September 15.
