An improving economy and lower gas prices could help make this the busiest Labor Day travel weekend in nearly a decade.
The nearly 35 million people packing the car and hitting the highway this Labor Day weekend, will notice that it's going to cost less to get there than it did a year ago.
According to Triple A, gas prices are down 15 cents a gallon over this time last year.
Those in Sioux City are noticing the difference.
"Gas prices are actually not too bad, I mean they've been more expensive. So, I'm not to effected by it. I'm just going to Sioux Falls," said Matt Sanem, a Sioux City Resident.
According to GasBuddy.com, Iowa's average per gallon is $3.38
That's four cents lower than the national average.
