STORM UPDATE: Dakota City, NE officials release update

(SUBMITTED) - Power has been restored to the majority of Dakota City, streets are open with some width restrictions in areas and school will be in session on Tuesday.

Nebraska Public Power District crews will continue working through the night on remaining power problems.

Dakota City workers and volunteers will continue cleanup efforts indefinitely.

Road and highway check points have been lifted and the registration.

Process for residents, volunteers, contractors and equipment has been discontinued.

Dakota City Mayor Jerry Yacevich urges residents to use caution if approached by non-local tree trimming and removal companies, roofers and other contractors to avoid fraudulent scams and poor quality work.

Yacevich also asks that anyone driving in Dakota City over the next several days drive defensively and cautiously as debris removal equipment will be in use and some intersections have limited visibility.

Anyone with questions regarding the cleanup efforts, volunteering or debris disposal can call City Hall at (402) 987-3448.
