HARTINGTON, Neb. (AP) - A South Dakota man has died and a woman has been critically injured in a single-vehicle crash in northeastern Nebraska. The Norfolk Daily News reports that the 26-year-old Keannan Simpson, of Yankton, South Dakota, died following a Monday afternoon crash on a rural road near Hartington. Investigators say Simpson was driving when he lost control of his sport utility vehicle and rolled several times.
BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - A federal appeals court has denied Gage County's request for further review of a $28.1 million judgment awarded to six people who were wrongfully convicted of murder. The full 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected Gage County's request Tuesday. A three-judge panel of the 8th Circuit court declined June 11 to overturn a jury's 2016 verdict against the county and two former law enforcement officials.
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Billionaire Warren Buffett has given another $3.4 billion of his Berkshire Hathaway stock to five foundations as part of his plan to gradually give away his fortune. Buffett disclosed the annual gifts Monday.
BASSETT, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a man died after losing control of his motorcycle in north-central Nebraska. The accident occurred around 2:25 p.m. Sunday on Nebraska Highway 7, a little less than 11 miles north of Bassett. Rock County Sheriff James Anderson says 43-year-old Erich Bussinger was headed north when his motorcycle ran off the pavement and crashed. Anderson says Bussinger lived in Bassett.
