SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -
As the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce's annual dinner approaches, we now know who the keynote speaker will be.
Former Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice and NFL Hall of Fame inductee, Alan Page, will come to Sioux City to speak at the event.
Page won a national championship with Notre Dame, followed by an illustrious career with the Minnesota Vikings.
Page was the first ever defensive player to be named league MVP back in 1978.
He was also the first African-American ever elected to serve on the Minnesota State Supreme Court in 1992.
With the nation becoming divided due to recent mass shootings, Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Darrell Jesse, believes that Page's perspective will be valuable.
"The speaker was selected long before the Dallas shootings or any of the tensions that we're having now," said Siouxland Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman, Darrell Jesse.
"But it will be great to hear his perspective. Not only on being an NFL football player and winning a National Championship for Notre Dame and all the other things he's accomplished, in particular, being a Supreme Court Justice."
