FutureTrack showing more rain possible later on today.
After a brief return of the sunshine yesterday, today will bring back the gloom as overcast skies and shower chances move back into the picture. A weak upper level disturbance is moving through the region and that will keep the clouds thick and the shower potential increasing throughout the day. We're not expecting heavy rain but the best chance of seeing a shower looks to be later on this afternoon into the early evening. The air mass is dry so even though we're seeing showers pop-up on radar, they're not actually making it to the ground which is what we call "Virga".
The atmosphere will continue to moisten as we go through the day which allow those shower chances to increase later. The clouds will stick with us through tonight along with the rain chances before the system starts to pull out early tomorrow. Thursday will feature the coldest day in the coming 7 with highs only in the upper 50s due to NW flow and cold air advection into Siouxland. Low look to dip near freezing Friday AM so make sure you grab those jackets before leaving the house. Temperatures start to moderate through this weekend under lots of sunshine as southerly flow takes back over. Conditions stay pleasant right through the kick-off of the workweek with our next rain chance not arriving until Tuesday.
