Elk Point Volunteer Fire Chief Don Klunder says a Saturday fire at an Elk Point, South Dakota junkyard is still under investigation.
Klunder says there may never be a cause determined for the fire.
He says mostly tires, cars and car parts went up in flames on Saturday afternoon.
Crews battled the thick smoke for hours on Saturday.
Several agencies did respond to the fire including Elk Point, Vermillion, Yankton, Jefferson, and Beresford.
Smoke from the fire did start to die down around 6 p.m. on Saturday.
