Police continue to search for suspect after shooting in Norfolk, NE


Norfolk Police are continuing to search for a suspect they say shot a 19-year-old Norfolk man on Saturday.

Norfolk Police Captain Don Miller says Alejandro Cuellar-Martinez of Norfolk was shot Saturday evening.

Capt. Miller says police were initially called to the corner of 12th and Michigan Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for a call of four men acting suspiciously.

Police received another call soon after that the group was throwing fireworks at each other.

But what the caller thought was fireworks was actually gunfire.

Cueller-Martinez was taken to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk and is expected to survive. Capt. Miller says the others involved fled the scene on foot. The suspect is still at large.

Police are investigating a shooting in Norfolk Nebraska Saturday Night. 

Norfolk Police were called to the scene at the corner of 12th street and Michigan Avenue around 8 p.m.

Very little is known about the incident at this time.

Witnesses at the scene said they overheard five or six gunshots and that one person was taken to the hospital.

The condition of the victim is unknown.

No arrests have been made.
