Police believe body of Sydney Loofe found in rural Clay County, NE

At a news conference in Lincoln, Nebraska Tuesday morning, law enforcement said they believe the body of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe, Neligh-native, was found in rural Clay County on Monday.

Special Agent in Charge with the FBI Randy Thysee said, "On behalf of the FBI, we extend our deepest, heartfelt condolences to Sydney's parents, George and Susie, her brother and sister, her friends and all that were very fortunate enough to know her."

Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister said they found her with a combination of digital analysis and law enforcement on the ground searching for her.

He said she was found in an open area, not an urban environment.

Chief Bliemeister said they are continuing to speak to 51-year-old Aubrey Trail. And both Trail and 23-year-old Bailey Boswell are still considered to be persons of interest in the disappearance of Loofe. At this time, Trail and Boswell are not charged with an offense directly related to the investigation.

Chief Bliemeister said they believe Trail and Boswell were two of the last people to have been with Loofe prior to her disappearance.

Chief Jeff Bliemeister said, "We do believe there is evidence of foul play and we'll continue throughout the day to do the search. And then the subsequent pathology, examination to determine exactly what that is."

There are 40 different law enforcement officers in the area of where Loofe was found.

Loofe's body is undergoing an autopsy and law enforcement said they will provide updates when more information can be released.

Chief Bliemeister said law enforcement do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the safety of the public based on this investigation.

Loofe was reported missing on November 16.

The search for missing Neligh, Nebraska-native Sydney Loofe is over.

Loofe's parents posted to the "Finding Sydney Loofe" Facebook page, tonight, that their daughter's body has been recovered.

In a statement, George and Susie Loofe said, "It's with heavy hearts that we share this most recent update with you all. Please continue to pray for Sydney and our entire family. May God grant eternal rest unto thee. We love you Sydney."

The family didn't say where Loofe's body was found. But, Lincoln, Nebraska police, and the FBI have called a news conference for 9:00 a.m., Tuesday morning, in Lincoln. KTIV will live stream it here

Loofe was reported missing on November 16 one day after telling friends she was looking forward to a date on November 15.

Last week, two "persons of interest" in the case, Aubrey Trail and Bailey Boswell, turned themselves in to police, near Branson, Missouri, on charges not connected to the disappearance of Sydney Loofe.
