Boy dies from accidental shooting in rural Clarksville, Iowa
BUTLER COUNTY, IA (KWWL) -
The Butler County Sheriff's Office confirms a minor was killed in an accidental shooting in rural Clarksville.
They say this happened around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 10.
Clarksville EMS, Waverly Paramedics, Clarksville Police, Iowa State Patrol, and the Butler County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident.
Authorities say when they arrived, there were 3 people at the scene, and all of them were under the age of 18.
No names are being released at this time.
One boy died after being shot.
This case remains under investigation.
Joel Foster, the superintendent for the Clarksville Community School District, sent KWWL a statement this morning.
He says, "The Clarksville Schools Family is greatly saddened by the loss of one of our students. The Central Rivers AEA Crisis Response Team, Counselors from several neighboring school districts, and members of the local ministerial alliance will be on hand today to support students and staff members as needed. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the family and friends of this student."
