(NBC News) -

On the Big Island of Hawaii, emergency officials are calling for more evacuations as the Kilauea volcano threatens to do more damage.

An 18th fissure opened up in Puna Sunday, sending gases and lava exploding into the air.

The newest lava outbreak follows two eruptions Saturday.

Geologists warn that if Kilauea's volcano blows its top, it could hurl ash and boulders miles into the sky.
