QUINCY, IL (WGEM) -

Brock's decision came at the expense of some and to the elation of others, but at the end of the day for the four-star running back, the choice felt right all around.

Brock said, "The coaching staff there is amazing. People that I feel really comfortable with. The team I feel really comfortable with. When I went on my official visit I got to be around them and kind of see how I fit in their family and in their culture."

His father Jebora said, "It just fits him right. The opportunity is right. The academics is right. The support is right."

Brock has set any number of records with QHS. The rising senior is already the program leader with 52 career touchdowns. While Brock is just now stepping under a bigger spotlight, those close to him have known about his potential for quite some time.

Quincy High Head Football Coach Rick Little said, "Game one of his sophomore year, played a really good Edwardsville team that have some kids at the division one ranks now. He was going out there and doing some really, really nice things and did them effortlessly. When you saw that you kind of stepped back and said, 'Oh wow this kid, he's arriving now.'"

Jirehl added, "That's one reason why I made this decision at this time. So I can not focus on where I'm going to school the next four to five years. I can focus on winning football games for my team."

The 2017 Herald-Whig Player of the Year joins a Cyclone team that finished 8-5 last season with wins against #3 Oklahoma and #4 TCU.
