A South Sioux City, Neb., man acquitted in February in the shooting death of is wife last year must now undergo a mental health treatment program.
Fourty-one year year old Bei Sheng Chen was found not responsible by reason of insanity, in the death of his wife, 33-year old Mei Huang, last September outside of the Law Enforcement Center in South Sioux City.
Today in Dakota County District Court, Judge Paul Vaughan ordered that Chen be remanded to the Forensic Mental Health Department of the Lincoln Regional Center in Lincoln, Neb.
In the filing today, Vaughan wrote that based upon evidence at the trial and the evaluation of Dr. Ramoncito O'Campo, Chen is dangerous to himself and others, and will be dangerous in the foreseeable future without continuing participation in an appropriate treatment program.
Vaughan has set a July 23 hearing regarding his status.
He also set a July 1, 2019 deadline for an evaluation and any potential future treatment.
