The National Transportation Safety Board has released their preliminary report on the oil spill in Doon, Iowa, earlier this summer.
On June 22, 33 tanker cars derailed with 10 tanker cars spilling 230,000 gallons of heavy crude oil south of Doon, Iowa, this according to the report.
According to the NTSB preliminary report, the derailment happened around 4:35 a.m. June 22, with roughly 2.4 million gallons of petroleum crude oil on board.
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) determined the train was going about 48 mph.
Eighteen to 20 people in Little Rock River were evacuated following the spill.
No injuries were reported.
