SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Nate Samson was 4-for-5 with two RBI, Daniel Jackson hit a three-run home run and the Explorers beat Kansas City on Thursday, 7-5.

Four of the X's runs came right away. Samson's first-inning double tallied both his RBI, as Luis Durango and Michael Lang scored.

The X's got two more runs on a pair of strange plays. A sacrifice fly to deep center from Jose Sermo allowed Samson to score, and Sioux City got one more run when a throwing error let Dexture McCall to reach on a dropped third strike, and allowed Blake Schmit to score.

Jackson's three-run jack, his first of the year, made it a 7-0 game in the sixth inning.

Kansas City got five runs in the seventh. After loading the bases, Mason Davis hit an RBI single and Todd Cunningham followed with a walk, prompting an Explorers pitching change from Parker Markel to Patrick Schuster.

Colin Walsh followed with a two-run single, and a sacrifice fly by Adrian Nieto capped the big inning. All five runs were charged to Markel.

Sioux City starter James Dykstra threw seven scoreless innings, earning the win. With the victory, the Explorers (57-20) snapped a three-game losing streak, and now lead Kansas City by 7.5 games in the South Division.
