North high students are awarded outstanding character awards

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Some Siouxland students are excelling not only in school but at building their character.

And Wednesday at North High school four students were honored with an Outstanding Character Award.

Seniors Justin Fisher and Maria Jorgensen and sophomores Cammy Ly and Laura Triplett received the awards.

North High school officials say the students are nominated by their teachers and their fellow students.

Linda Smoley, North High Principal, says, "And we just want to keep putting this in front of kids. That character is the most important thing you will ever possess. It's as important as academics and it's as important as athletics. It will make you successful at life itself and help you make those around you happy and fulfilled."

Smoley says the teachers are going to establish a scholarship for seniors who have won the award during their years at North High.
