IDA GROVE, Iowa (KTIV) - For the first time in years, authorities will look for clues to a case that went cold shortly after 21-year-old Connie Ruddy disappeared from Ida Grove, Iowa in 1997.
Ida County Sheriff Wade Harriman says it's no coincidence that authorities decided to reopen Ruddy's case this coming Tuesday.
That is the 12 year anniversary of her disappearance.
The Missing Person's case eventually became a homicide case when D-N-A test proved that a jaw bone found in a river near Denison, Iowa was Ruddy's. That was in 1999.
Ten years later, the Sheriff said this morning that he is looking to jog people's memory of the case.
"Our goal is really two-fold. We want to try to re-energize the case and asking for the public's assistance in helping to solve the case. And also to offer a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons or person responsible," said Sheriff Harriman.
Sheriff Harriman says there is no new evidence or new leads; they are simply hoping to bring some closure to the case.
