CEDAR FALLS (KTIV) - The Boyden-Hull Rock Valley Nighthawks came into their game on Saturday looking for a spot in the Iowa Class 3A title game. And the Nighthawks earned that spot.

BHRV crushed Solon in the game 42-0. The first quarter was all Landyn Van Kekerix as the senior first busted out a 45 yard touchdown run to put the Nighthawks up 7-0. Before catching a 33 yard touchdown pass from Tanner Te Slaa to put them up 14-0.

Then Van Kekerix scored his third touchdown of the game when in the second Te Slaa connected with him for a 68 yard touchdown pass and just like that it was 21-0.

The Nighthawks were not done yet though a Te Slaa pass to Sam Remmerde from 25 yards out made it 28-0. Then Te Slaa found Vance Katzfey for a 55 yard touchdown pass and it was 35-0 going into half.

BHRV put 7 more on the board in the third when Lane Schmidt found the endzone from 14 yards out to make it 42-0. Thats when the brakes were put on as the Nighthawks cruised to a 42-0 victory over Solon.

“The way our kids prepared and my coaches get all of the credit,” said head coach Cory Brandt. “They had these guys ready to play and they went out and executed at a really high level. I couldn’t be more proud of a group of guys and just for how they played and how they executed.”

“It was nice to come out here and do what we did compared to last year,” said senior Landyn Van Kekerix. “It’s a lot funner to come out here and do this, win like this. We just came out an played and I thought we just came out well and that helps when you come out and just perform like that. It helps to just keep you rolling though the game.”

BHRV will face Harlan in next weeks class 3A title game, on Friday November 19th, kickoff is set for 1:00 in the UNI-DOME.
