SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Morningside wrapped up another undefeated regular season - winning the GPAC title for the 11th consecutive season. Now the Mustangs turn their attention to the NAIA playoffs. It’s their 18th straight appearance in the postseason.

The Mustangs are one of only three teams in the 16-team field that enter the playoffs undefeated. Morningside hasn’t lost a regular season game since 20-16 - a streak of 57 straight wins. The Mustangs are the number-2 seed and will hots Ottawa University out of Arizona on Saturday. The Spirit are the Sooner Athletic Conference Champions and come in with an 8-1 record. The two teams have never played, but the Mustangs are familiar with their style of play.

“Ottawa is an outstanding team. I think we drew a tough one,” said Steve Ryan. “Offensively, they’re so similar to Northwestern. Highly talented quarterback that can throw the deep ball well. They got some vertical ones so Ottawa keeps us focused on Ottawa because they’re talented.”

“They’re a spread offense. They like to chuck the ball, run jets, they have a great zone run scheme,” said senior Zack Keller. “If we can shut down their run game and keep them one dimensional, I think we can be pretty successful.”

Morningside and Ottawa University will kickoff at 12:00PM on Saturday from Elwood Olsen Stadium.
