HAWARDEN, Iowa (KTIV) - HAWARDEN, Iowa (KTIV) - West Sioux is just one win away from winning their third state championship. The Falcons earned a thrilling overtime victory over Dike-New Hartford in last weeks semifinals. West Sioux will meet Van Meter in the class 1A state title game tomorrow in Cedar Falls.

The Falcons will look for Dylan Wiggins to lead the offense under center. The junior has thrown for over 2,800 yards and 33 touchdowns this season. This is West Sioux’s 3rd appearance in a championship game. The Falcons won back to back titles in 2017 and 2018. West Sioux’s opponents Van Meter will be looking for some revenge after falling to OABCIG in last years championship game. This will be their fourth state title game appearance, and they will be looking to win their second title in five years. The last time these two met was in the semifinal round in 2018 when West Sioux took the victory.

“The recipe for success is there and that recipe is hard work. Our kids work hard in the weight room they put in the time in the offseason doing the stuff that it takes to win games,” said West Sioux head coach Ryan Schweisow. “You know as long as that recipe is there the end results going to be there and the kids gotta put in the work and they do it.”

West Sioux and Van Meter will kickoff at 4:00pm Thursday in the UNI-Dome.
