Sheldon, IA to receive $125,000 for law enforcement hiring to advance community policing

SHELDON, Iowa (KTIV) - The Justice Department has awarded $250,000 to two law enforcement agencies in the Northern District of Iowa, and one of them is in Siouxlnad.

Sheldon and Dysart are each getting $125,000. The acting U.S. Attorney says the grants will provide the cities the opportunity to hire officers who will further develop community-oriented policing programs.

A total of $139 million is being awarded to more than 180 law enforcement agencies nationwide, allowing the agencies to hire nearly 1,100 additional law enforcers.
