SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The final day of Big Brother Big Sisters of Siouxland’s annual tour of homes kicked off Saturday, and this year, there is a twist.

Instead of homes, this year, Siouxlanders could tour downtown apartments in historic buildings.

People could tour an apartment at the Copper Flats, 4th and Jackson street condos, Bluebird Flats, and two apartments at the Warrior Apartments.

Leaders with the organization said they’re honored and blessed to have a great response from the community each year of the tours.

“One thing about the tour of homes, it’s been in this community for over 40 years. We’ve had it for nine years at Big Brothers Big Sisters. The community loves this event and we love them for it. They come and they’re excited! It’s just a fun way to really get into the holiday spirit, support a good cause and just come out and have a good time,” said Kristie Arlt, Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director.

The Tour of Homes is Big Brother Big Sisters’ largest fundraiser.

“One thing that I continue to be impressed with every single year on this tour is the talent we have in Sioux City. These local designers from Siouxland, they come in they deck out these apartments. You don’t have to go out of town, Chicago, New York to find top-notch designers. They’re just amazing people. So, I love supporting them because they support us with their incredible talent,” said Arlt.

The tour of homes also had a pop-up shop, where staff from local businesses could shop before or after their tours.
