ORANGE CITY, IA (KTIV) - The Northwestern Red Raiders were looking to continue their revenge tour and get back to the NAIA semifinals once again when they hosted the Marian Knights.

Marian got the scoring started with a 19-yard field goal to go up 3-0 in the first.

Later in the first a Jalyn Gramstad interception gave the Red Raiders good field position. Which allowed Logan Meyer to rumble in for the score to go up 6-3.

Marian would respond in the second quarter when Baron Huebler closed out a 13 play drive with a touchdown run near the goal line to make it a 10-6 ballgame.

But, Northwestern would fight back Tyson Kooima connected with Cade Moser from 17 yards out to go up 13-10. And, Eli Stader would tack on two field goals before the half ended to have the Red Raiders leading 19-10 at the half.

The second half was a knockdown drag-out affair between the two teams. First Marian scored a touchdown on a Huebler ten-yard touchdown run to make it 17-19. Then a Gabe Puterbaugh field goal from 25 yards gave the Knights a 20-19 lead.

But, it’s not easy to keep the Red Raiders down a 7 play 68-yard drive capped off by a Logan Meyer touchdown run from a yard out gave Northwestern a 25-20 lead. And that would be all they would need as the Red Raiders hung on 25-20.

Northwestern will face off against rival Morningside in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for noon on December 4th at Elwood Olsen Stadium.
