Sioux City woman in custody after high-speed pursuit ends in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A woman is in custody after a police chase Thursday morning in Sioux City.

According to the Sioux City Police Department, 26-year-old Makayla Nellist, of Sioux City, has been charged with theft, eluding and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Police say the incident began around 8:15 a.m. when they were notified about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Sioux City Country Club. When police ran the vehicle’s plates, it came up as stolen. When officers tried to stop the car, it refused to yield and attempted to flee.

The vehicle was eventually stopped successfully in the 2300 block of Riverside Boulevard. Nellist, who police say was driving the vehicle, was taken into custody without further incident.

No injuries are being reported and the only damage done was to the suspect vehicle.
