SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KTIV) - A state grant for $500,000 has been awarded to a new indoor sports facility in Sioux Center, Iowa.

According to a press release, the Enhance Iowa Board approved the Community Attraction and Tourism Grant for the American State Bank Sports Complex.

The board contributed $5.1 million to 16 Iowa communities, and the grant for the city of Sioux Center was the largest amount.

The complex is to be used to create indoor space for a range of activities and year-round recreation. When the facility opens, it’ll be a 470-foot by 250-foot air-inflated dome and indoor turf. The design includes space for spectators to watch, changing areas, concessions and seating. It is estimated the facility will see more than 200,000 visitors per year.

The complex is scheduled to break ground in the spring of 2022. It is planned to be open by December 2022.
