Snow moves in on Friday with Winter Storm Warnings for parts of Siouxland
**Winter Storm Warning for the northern half of Siouxland from late Thursday night through early Friday night**
**Winter Weather Advisory for much of the southern half of Siouxland, including Sioux City, from late Thursday night through early Friday night**
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - After a sunny and mild day, all eyes are turning to the snowstorm that is still set to move into Siouxland for the day on Friday.
We’ll start to see changes tonight as clouds will be thickening and a little light snow may try to get going late in the night in for northwestern sections of the KTIV viewing area.
Northern Siouxland will have the best chance of seeing some early morning snow on Friday with the snow then building into the rest of the region as the morning goes along.
It will then be Friday afternoon when the snow becomes much more widespread and the intensity will pick up as well with temperatures for a lot of the day hovering in the low 30s.
There will be some wind to contend with as it blows from the northeast at about 15 to 25 miles per hour, but it won’t be overly gusty for this kind of system.
The snow will continue right on into Friday evening with the intensity starting to decrease after 9 pm or so.
Then the snow will start to come to an end from west to east across Siouxland into Friday night with lows by Saturday morning heading to around 20 degrees.
Snowfall amounts are expected to be highest in northern Siouxland where 6 to 10 inches of snow is going to be possible and that is where Winter Storm Warnings have been issued.
In the Winter Weather Advisory area, from Sioux City and points south, 3 to 6 inches is likely.
Far southern Siouxland won’t see as much snow out of this system with a lot of areas picking up 1 to 3 inches down there.
I’ll have the very latest on this system and what the weather will be like next week tonight on News 4 at 5, 6, and 10.
