SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - While we’ve seen some unusually warm weather for this time of year here in Siouxland, cold weather is always something to be looking out for in the winter months.

Staying warm is essential during these cold months.

If you need help with winter heating costs, there’s a program that can help. It’s called the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP.

If you qualify, the program will pay a portion of your winter heating bill, regardless of how you heat your home.

“This program allows people assistance with their bill to help them make that through the winter without necessarily going without medicine. Or going without food or other basic necessities. Which is what studies have shown people will do to try to get that bill paid,” said Jean Logan, Executive Director.

Logan added, they also have a program for water assistance.

You can contact the Community Action Agency of Siouxland or visit them online to apply for assistance.
