Dec. 22: Iowa confirmed 119 more COVID-19 deaths in last week

(KTIV) - Iowa health officials say the state’s total deaths connected to COVID-19 have risen to 7,799.
According to Iowa’s COVID-19 dashboard, 119 virus-related deaths have been confirmed in the last 7 days, with those deaths occurring sometime between Oct. 28 and Dec. 16.
A total of 9,472 positive COVID-19 tests have been confirmed in the last 7 days as well, bringing the state’s total to 607,922. Iowa health officials say there are 747 people hospitalized due to the virus. Of those hospitalizations, 158 are in the ICU. In northwest Iowa, there are 64 hospitalized patients being reported with 14 in the ICU. Woodbury County accounts for 28 of those hospitalized patients with 9 in the ICU.
Currently, Iowa is reporting 4,249,805 vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents with 1,666,085 people confirmed to have completed their vaccine series. This means 73.8% of the state’s 12 and older population is fully vaccinated.
