Iowa State looking to end season on high note with Cheez-IT Bowl victory
ORLANDO, Florida (KTIV) - We’re two days away from the Cheez-It Bowl between Iowa State and Clemson. This will be the first ever meeting between the Cyclones and the Tigers. It’s Iowa State’s 5th straight bowl game appearance.
This is the Cyclones 17th bowl game in program history. They have a 5-11 record in their previous 16 appearances. This is ISU’s second Cheez-It bowl. The first one was a loss to Notre Dame in 2019. Iowa State comes into the game with a 7-5 record. The Cyclones finished the regular season with a 48-14 route of TCU. Clemson went 9-3 and enters this contest on a five game winning streak. The Cyclones are focused on ending the season on a high note and taking some momentum into next season.
“The positive for us is really the last two and a half, three weeks have allowed us to number one, know exactly from our senior class, putting a great end to their career,” said head coach Matt Campbell. “But also for us having a really having a great understanding of where we’re going and what our football team has got the ability to look like going into the future and I think we’re all really excited about that.”
“This year maybe we had different expectations at the start of the season but I can tell you the guys in the locker room still pour our heart and soul into every game and every time we step on that field to make sure we can execute the game plan,” said senior Chase Allen. “I’m just trying to enjoy the time left with my teammates and just send this thing out the right way.”
Iowa State and Clemson will kickoff in the Cheez-It Bowl on Wednesday night at 4:45pm in Orlando, Florida.
