SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Iowa residents in the Siouxland area can access free PCR COVID-19 tests at local pharmacies and health departments.

According to Tyler Brock, the deputy director at Siouxland District Health Department, tests are not in short supply at this time. The PCR tests are not “rapid tests” but results are generally available within 24 hours. All Iowa residents are eligible to pick up a test at no cost.

“So it’s a really good opportunity for people to get that done. Supply is really good. And there really isn’t a whole lot of reason why people can’t take advantage of that,” said Tyler Brock.

The tests will hold up to most travel requirements, Brock said, and detect all variants of COVID-19. Despite the rise in omicron cases nationwide, the delta variant still causes the most cases in Siouxland, according to the Siouxland District Health Department.

Free tests are available at the health district’s office, Drilling Pharmacy, Sergeant Bluff City Hall, Sergeant Bluff Pharmacy, Thompson Dean Drug, UnityPoint Sunnybrook Clinic, UnityPoint Sergeant Bluff Clinic and the Lewis Drug in Moville.
