Iowa reported over 34,000 positive COVID cases, 182 deaths over the last week
(KTIV) - Positive COVID-19 cases and virus-related deaths continue to climb in Iowa.
According to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, From Jan. 5 through Ja. 11 there were 34,258 positive cases confirmed in Iowa. Since the pandemic began Iowa health officials have reported 682,570 confirmed positive cases.
Additionally, Iowa’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 8,201. Officials say they confirmed 182 more deaths in the last week. Those reportedly occurred between Oct. 7, 2021, and Jan. 10, 2022.
The latest reports from Iowa health officials show there are 923 COVID-19 patients in the state’s hospital. Last week’s report had 792 COVID-19 patients in the state. Of the patients currently in the hospital due to the virus, 178 are in the ICU. There are reported 1.94K inpatients beds and 147 ICU beds still available in Iowa.
In northwest Iowa, officials are reporting 102 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with 19 in the ICU. Woodbury County makes up 44 hospitalized patients and 13 of them in the ICU.
