Fourth suspect in fatal 2021 New Year’s Day shooting to enter guilty plea
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The fourth person charged in connection to the fatal New Year’s Day shooting in Sioux City is set to enter a plea of guilty.
Court documents state Liliana Gutierrez will enter the plea in February and will be sentenced. Gutierrez is facing charges of reckless use of a firearm and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. Court documents claim she was the driver during the shooting on Jan. 1, 2021.
The fatal shooting happened in the 2600 block of Walker Street in Sioux City’s Morningside neighborhood. Investigators say three people opened fire on the residence with 9-millimeter handguns and an assault-style rifle. An 18-year-old named Mia Kritis died from her injuries. Three other people were struck by gunfire and injured but eventually recovered.
The three men who fired the shots, Carlos Morales, Christopher Morales and Anthony Bauer have already pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges. Each one was sentenced to at least 50 years in prison.
