A winter storm moves into Siouxland Friday
**Winter Storm Warning for eastern Siouxland from early Friday morning into Friday night**
**Winter Weather Advisory for central Siouxland from 6 am Friday until 3 am Saturday**
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The mild weather from the past three days is about to replaced with snowy and colder conditions as we head into Friday.
Some light snow will start moving in from the north as head through the overnight hours with lows dipping into the upper 20s.
There will be a slight chance of some light freezing rain or sleet mixing in, especially in the western and southern areas of Siouxland with the best chances being during the early morning hours of Friday.
But then as the day goes along, snow should become the main precipitation threat and it will be much heavier the farther to the east that you go.
Eastern Siouxland is in a Winter Storm Warning from early Friday morning into Friday night where over 6 inches of snow may fall with 10 inches looking like the top end of what could be produced.
Central Siouxland, including Sioux City, is in a Winter Weather Advisory where amounts will be more in the 3-to-6 inch range.
Western Siouxland is where the lights snow amounts will fall and be in the 1-to-3 inch range.
Highs on Friday will be in the low 30s and the wind won’t be too bad for a while out of the southeast at 10-20 miles per hour.
The snow will continue into early Friday night then come to an end after 3 or 4 am.
But the wind will gusty Friday night and gusts could go up to 35 miles per hour at times which will be enough to cause some blowing and drifting of snow.
I will be taking an in-depth look at this storm in a Facebook Live at 7:30 pm which you find here.
The snow will be out of here by the time most of us are waking up Saturday morning, but it will be a much colder day with highs only in the upper teens with clearing skies.
We’ll see those temperatures rebound some by Sunday with highs in the mid 30s under partly cloudy skies.
I’ll have the very latest for you tonight on News 4 at 5, 6, and 10.
