200 students, 109 staff test positive for COVID-19 at Sioux City public schools

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The Sioux City Community School District continues to report COVID-19 cases among its schools’ staff and students.
For the week of Jan. 10 through Jan. 14, 200 of the district’s students reported they had tested positive for COVID-19. That’s about 1.3% of the district’s total student population.
For staff, 109 staff members reported having tested positive for the virus. That comes out to about 4.5% of the district’s total staff members.
The Sioux City Community School District is conducting rapid COVID-19 tests in its buildings for staff and students. Students are only tested if there is parent/guardian approval.
