SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Kids and adults gathered at the Sioux City Public Museum for “Kids Saturday,” a periodic event focused on learning.

The event at the Sioux City Public Museum was born out of the pandemic. What started as a take-home packet during the height of COVID-19 turned into an in-person event for Siouxland’s youth.

“It’s an event that we have every month. It’s for families with young children, a time for families to come to the museum, do some crafts, do a scavenger hunt and look around at the exhibit at the museum,” said Connie Macfarlane, an educator at the museum.

For Jackson, one of the children who participated in Kids Saturday - “Back to the Wild” - he was just happy to draw a polar bear and tiger mask.

“I made it based off the picture of a real lion over there,” said Jackson.

Kids Saturday has three upcoming events, on February 12, March 12 and April 9. Topics will include Valentines day, a “Leprechaun’s Tour of Sioux City” and “The Wheels Go Round.”

Kids Saturday is free in non-summer months. More information can be found on the museum’s website.
