SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Getting your first job can be one of life’s greatest milestones. Today, students with the Sioux City Career Academy got to meet with leading HR professionals from Great West Casualty at the Ho-Chunk Centre in downtown Sioux City to gather advice on job hunting and interview etiquette.

“One of the things that I really hope to gain are more tools on what I can use in the classroom. So I hope that they kind of give me more of those tools on how to be flexible in any circumstance and situation I can deal with in the classroom,” East High School Senior Aydin Chhet said.

The students learned about tips for landing their first job, common expectations in the workplace, and how to dress when going to an interview.

“I think it will help me kind of get an idea of jobs I would like to get throughout college. Right now I am taking my CNA class so I can be certified in that, and I can see how a job like that works in the hospital, and have a job throughout college that will give me work experience that will look good with graduate schools,” said Makenna Schlumbaum, a senior at West High School.

Leaders with the Career Academy say Monday’s workshop was a great step forward in preparing students for job interviews in the future.
