Sioux City woman charged in connection to Tuesday morning shooting on McDonald Street

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A woman has been charged in connection to a shooting Tuesday morning in Sioux City.

The Sioux City Police Department says 25-year-old Lacoyata Fourkiller of Sioux City has been charged in connection to the Jan. 18 shooting. She is facing charges of assault and possession or carrying a dangerous weapon.

Police were sent to the 1500 block of McDonald Street Tuesday at about 2:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired. When they got to the scene, witnesses told police that a physical altercation broke out between two groups of people.

One of the victims, an adult male, told police he was walking back to his McDonald Street residence Tuesday morning when a car pulled up and those inside started asking him for money. When he refused, the four males and one female in the car allegedly started to assault him. The victim’s family members then reportedly came out of their residence to intervene.

A physical altercation began between the two groups and ended when one of the suspects from the car allegedly fired several shots in the direction of the family.

Police arrested Fourkiler a short time after the shooting. She was found with a handgun under her car seat.

No information yet on who fired the gun during the incident.

The four other males involved with this incident are still being searched for by police.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Police are searching for suspects after a fight in the early hours of Tuesday morning resulted in shots being fired on a Sioux City street.

The Sioux City Police Department says they responded at 2:30 a.m. to shots fired in the 1500 block of McDonald Street. When they arrived at the scene, officers found that several shots had been fired after a physical altercation between two groups.

One of the victims, an adult male, told police he was walking back to his McDonald Street residence Tuesday morning when a car pulled up and those inside started asking him for money. When he refused, the four males and one female in the car allegedly started to assault him. The victim’s family members then reportedly came out of their residence to intervene.

A physical altercation began between the two groups and ended when one of the suspects from the car allegedly fired several shots in the direction of the family.

Police say no one was struck by gunfire, but an unoccupied car was damaged. Otherwise, only minor injuries were reported due to the assault.

The suspects have been identified by police and detectives say they are working to find them.
