SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - On what would have been her 100th birthday, one Siouxland brewery has honored Betty White in a unique way.

Marty’s Tap has had a Betty White Stout available on tap for a few years now, and this year the brewery wanted to honor the late animal-loving actress by not only serving their signature Betty White Stout, but also donating proceeds from Monday to three Sioux City animal shelters, the Siouxland Humane Society, Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue, and the Sioux City Animal Rescue and Adoption Center.

The Brewery’s fundraising efforts go hand-in-hand with a social media challenge taking place today. Betty White’s fans across the globe are challenging one another to donate $5 to local shelters and rescues as a way to honor White’s lifelong love of animals.

“You know, she was a huge animal rights and animal shelter lover, so we decided to have this fundraiser, we turned it into a fundraiser, so it kind of something for fun, and hopefully we will raise some money for the local animal shelters,” said Kelly Quinn, owner of Marty’s and Brioux City Brewery.

A Noah’s Hope rescue dog that was found shortly after Betty White’s passing was named after the beloved actress, and the donations from Monday will help with her medical expenses plus so much more.

“Betty had died and then we found this dog, so we named her Betty in honor of Betty, and we have kind of branched off from that to do some fundraisers and to partner with this organization and raise some money to pay for Betty’s vet bills,” said Melinda Brienzo, a volunteer with Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue.

Kelly Quinn said there are several ways to donate; you can donate using the PayPal link for the event. Just visit their website briouxcity.com and hit the “donate” link at the top left of the page. There’ll also be physical donation jars set up at the bar. Along with the donations, a portion of every purchase of a “Betty White Stout” will also go to the shelters.
