SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - About thirty tons of dirt is being moved inside the Tyson Events Center for this weekend’s rodeo.

The preparations are for “CINCH World’s Toughest Rodeo,” which is coming to Sioux City on Friday and Saturday night.

During the transformation process, the ice inside the arena actually stays frozen while plywood and protective gear are placed on top of the ice. After that, about 70 trucks haul in the dirt.

“The ice is still there under the plywood. So they lay plastic down and put the plywood on top and then we put the dirt on top of the dirt. So it’s pretty strategic work, especially taking it off,” said David Johnson, one of the organizers.

A pre-show will begin on both Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., with the official show starting at 7:30 p.m. Check with the Tyson Events Center Box Office for ticket availability.
