No injuries or major damages reported after fire breaks out underneath railroad bridge in Sioux City

UPDATE

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - No injuries are being reported after a fire broke out underneath a railroad bridge in Sioux City.

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Steuben Street just after 12 p.m. Thursday for a fire. When they got to the scene, firefighters say they encountered a small fire at a homeless encampment underneath the bridge. Crews were able to quickly put the fire out.

Officials at the scene say they don’t expect any major structural damage to the railroad bridge because of the fire. But it has been closed for the time being.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it is believed to be accidental.

A portion of Steuben Street were closed while crews dealt with the fire.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A large amount of smoke can be seen coming from underneath a railroad bridge near the 100 block of Steuben Street.

No word yet on the status of the fire, but multiple fire trucks are at the scene.
