SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - After reporting over 300 COVID-19 cases last week, the Sioux City Community School District is reporting just over 200 cases for the latest school week.
For the week of Jan. 17 through Jan. 21, 168 of the district’s students reported they had tested positive for COVID-19. That’s about 1.1% of the district’s total student population. Last week about 200 students reported having the virus.
For staff, 67 staff members reported having tested positive for the virus, which is down from 109. Currently, about 2.7% of the district’s total staff members are reporting they have contracted the virus.
The Sioux City Community School District is conducting rapid COVID-19 tests in their buildings for staff and students. Students are only tested if there is parent/guardian approval.
