SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Court documents show an Anthon, Iowa man who was convicted of distributing explicit photos of a 13-year-old has been sentenced to nearly three decades in prison.

Joshua Baird, 40, was sentenced to 29 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to sexual exploitation of a child.

Baird’s guilty plea states in February 2021, he knowingly photographed a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct with his cell phone. Evidence showed Baird distributed these photos to an undercover cop online. Investigators also discovered Baird was in an inappropriate online relationship with a teenager in Australia.

After his 29-year sentence, Baird must also serve a five-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
