COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations in Woodbury County on downward trend

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Woodbury County continue to drop after a spike earlier in January.
For the week of Jan. 31, the Siouxland District Health Department reported 410 new COVID-19 cases. That’s compared to the 914 reported for the week before and to the 2,413 reported for the week of Jan. 10. The 14-day average positivity rate has dropped by 16.6 percent in the last three weeks. It’s now at 15.1 percent.
Hospitalized patients with COVID-19 in Woodbury County have dropped from 53 reported last week to 40 being reported this week. A week ago there were 27 patients hospitalized because of the virus, now there are 18.
As of Feb. 9, officials are reporting 50.9 percent of the eligible population in the county is fully vaccinated.
